Highlights: Nestled in the forested limestone cliffs, and overlooking the Suoi Yen river, Perfume pagoda is arguably one of Vietnam’s most spectacular sights.
Located on the limestone Karst terrain of Huong Son Mountain, in the beautiful and mystical surroundings. The pagoda is actually a complex of around 30 Buddhist shrines. It is 70 km or two-hour driving out of Hanoi, the Perfume Pagoda is one of the highlights of the Hanoi area and one of the most important religious sites for Vietnamese Buddhists. An annual visit up here in springtime is a must to many believers.
Unlike other temples in Vietnam, the only way to reach this sanctuary is boating along a narrow but extremely poetic stream by rowing boats that takes 45 minutes. An iron boat can carry 3-5 people and a large wooden boat up to 20 locals. The stream is edged by rice, grass, small paths, and temples here and there.
08:00 AM Asia Top Travel guide and driver pick up you from your hotel, depart Hanoi for a two hour drive through the picturesque countryside and back roads to the village of Ben Duc. We have a quick stop for some refreshment.
10:00 we boarding our private sampan boat for a 1.5 hour ride along the scenic Yen river, surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs.
11:30 Arrive at Thien Tru wharf, you enjoy a walking of one and a half hour uphill to Huong Tich grotto, also known as Perfume grotto. The great big grotto is nested on the top of Huong Son range. We will then come back downhill. On our way back we visit Giai Oan and Thien Tru pagoda(Heaven's Kitchen). Lunch will be served at one of the local food stalls near Thien Tru Pagoda.
After lunch, return to the awaiting boat back to our bus for the drive back to Hanoi. Arrive to Hanoi at around 18.00 pm.
