Fishing Village Culture & Basket Boat Tour, An Authentic Experience
Our tour guide named Lili took us through her fishing village explaining the life of the fishermen and her family. It was a perfect mix between technical information and cultural explanations always said with a funny touch.
We embarked on a traditional bamboo basket boat to reach a bigger motor boat conducted by the Captain Cook. While sailing on the Cua Dai River, Lili shared her family’s story and way of life with a lot of generosity. Also, she told us some stories from the “American war” happening in the area.
We stopped at the Coconut Palm Forest to watch the crazy dance basket boat show performed by the crew. We then jumped again on the basket boats and enjoyed the peaceful ambience in the Coconut Palm Forest and brought origamis made with leaves as a souvenir. Learning how to paddle is not an easy job!

Back on the bigger boat, we joined a couple of fishermen on their own traditional boat. They tought us how to drop the net in the water. Unfortunately we were not good at fishing and caught only one little fish (not enough for our lunch)! On board, we learned more about the Vietnamese culture by participating into a traditional dance. We then headed to an authentic fisherman wooden house, on the beach to meet the family who welcomed us warmly and showed us the technique to lift their huge and heavy cast net, this was a good workout!

The tour ended with a delicious and typical seafood meal on board the main boat.
