Located at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, this historic city offers a unique serene atmosphere. Wat Xieng Thong (also called Temple of the Royal City) is one of the most important of Lao monasteries and remains a significant monument to the spirit of religion, royalty and traditional art.

During a cruise on a long-tailed boat, you can see limestone cliffs where the hidden Pak Ou Caves are located. The cave is home to thousands of Buddha statues which make the region a revered one. You can spend some time trying to find the numerous hidden images in the cave.

The Royal Palace, also known as the National Museum, is the place to learn more about the long-lasting history and culture of the region. It was built during the French colonial era in 1904, in the middle of a beautiful garden.

25km south from Luang Prabang, Kuang Sy Fall is a stunning 50 meter waterfall dropping in turquoise pools, ideal to swim and refresh yourself.

You can admire a nice panorama of Luang Prabang from the Mount Phousi, located in the center of the city. The popular hill is 150 meters above the city, which allows visitors to enjoy a 360 degree view over the Mekong River and Luang Prabang.
